Testing your project

Once you've created your project, it's important to make sure it's set up as you want it to be. You can test your project both before and after you publish so you can make any adjustments required before you invite candidates. Testing your project is an essential final step & we'd recommend testing all projects before adding candidates, even if they're a copy of a previous project.

Testing before publishing

When you are creating your new project, you can use the 'Preview and Publish' button to view the candidate and assessor experiences in real time as you build them. This will allow you to make sure you're happy with the content and make adjustments as required.

Before publishing, you will be able to test:

  • Landing page
  • Data protection statement
  • Project information
  • Phase information
  • Activities that have been added to the project
  • Candidate messages and reports
  • Assessor information
  • Assessor exercises that have been added to the project

💡 Before you publish your project, you will be prompted by the platform to add any missing details before you can go ahead. If you have forgotten to set up settings such as translations (if required) or email templates, you will not be able to publish until these are finalised.

Testing after publishing

Once you have published your project, you will be able to complete end-to-end testing.

When completing end-to-end testing, you will need to test:

  • Candidate emails
  • Candidate reports
  • Automatic pass/fail rules
  • Dashboard scores/overall scores
  • Candidate workflow
  • Assessor workflow
  • Schedule templates including self-scheduling (if required)

To test your project, follow the step-by-step guide below:

  1. Add a test candidate to your project. It is recommended that you either use an email address that is different to your Sova username, or create a test email address using '@example.com'
  2. Navigate to the Sova portal using the candidate link
  3. Click through the landing page, data protection and overview tab
  4. Click into 'activities' and read through phase information (if available)
  5. Click to complete any available activities in the first phase, including assessment, video interview and DAC activities
  6. Navigate to 'messages' tab to ensure that any emails and reports that have been set up have sent to the candidate. Open any messages to ensure that the desired email content has populated.
  7. If your project only contains assessments, you can head back to the results dashboard to check scoring on the dashboard, including competency scores and overall scores.
  8. If your project contains video interview or DAC activities, you will need to also test as an assessor by following the guides below

💡 If your project is integrated, begin by sending your candidate through from your ATS before following steps 2-8 above.

 Testing Candidate Materials

When testing candidate materials, you will need to ensure that any of the content you have added is legible and flows sensibly regardless of device type.

Some key points to test are:

  • Does the instruction text flow and display sensibly?
  • Is there a good balance of text and media content to bring the experience to life for candidates?
  • When reading through, are there any spelling/grammatical errors or typos?
  • Do all images and videos display in the right place?
  • Does the branding appear as expected (i.e. colours, images etc.)?

💡 It is recommended that you test the content on different device types (i.e. desktop and mobile) to ensure the content you have created works equally well on all devices.

Testing as an assessor

Video Interview

Once you have completed the video interview as a candidate, navigate back to the results dashboard to score the candidate's responses as an assessor. You can use the assessor scoring link to review the following areas:

  • Are all of the relevant competencies/scoring scales available to the assessor to test?
  • Is any scoring guidance provided clear for assessors?
  • Can the videos be generated for review and scoring?

Once you have scored your test candidate as an assessor, navigate back to the results dashboard to ensure that scoring is populating on the dashboard as expected.

DAC

Testing your assessment day as an assessor will allow you to ensure that scoring for the assessment day is working correctly and that all available content is displaying as expected for assessors.

When reviewing the exercises, you should check:

  • Does each exercise display as you would expect?
  • Does the instruction text flow and display sensibly?
  • When reading through, are there any spelling/grammatical errors or typos?
  • Do all images and videos display in the right place?
  • Does the branding etc. display as expected?

To test as an assessor:

  1. Add a test assessor to your project. It is recommended that you either use an email address that is different to your Sova username, or create a test email address using '@example.com'
  2. Navigate to the Sova portal using the assessor link
  3. Click through the overview tab
  4. Click into 'schedule' to view the assessor activities and complete as an assessor
  5. Ensure all scoring has been populated for all indicators
  6. Navigate to the admin portal to check that scoring has populated on the results dashboard
